Abstract
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to conduct a performance appraisal using the balanced scorecard method approach at Putra Mulia Hotel Medan. Data for a financial perspective comes from the company's 2018 and 2019 financial statements, then data for a non-financial perspective comes from a questionnaire distributed to 42 Putra Mulia hotel employees as internal respondents, and 20 Putra Mulia Hotel customers as external respondents. Data analysis was carried out using quantitative descriptive methods by observing the company's 2018 and 2019 financial statements, and interpreting the results of questionnaires for internal respondents and external respondents. The research results of each perspective that were assessed consisted of a financial perspective, a customer perspective, an internal business perspective, as well as a learning and growth perspective, all of which got “Good” results. Overall, the performance assessment of Putra Mulia Hotel Medan in 2019 using a balanced scorecard approach resulted in a "Very Good" result with the "A" category. Compared to the performance in 2018, the performance in 2019 that used the balanced scorecard was better than the performance in 2018 which was assessed without using the balanced scorecard, only judging from the financial aspect, not taking into account non-financial aspects.
